“Remember when we thought we could buy our house, renovate it, and move into it before our wedding? Back in August?”
The before. We left it like this and went off for two weeks of adventure and happiness.
To come back to THIS madness! Taken on a pit stop to unpack and repack our suitcase for JoQuy’s.
Speaking of bathroom adventures, we gave this little guy a bath while his parents were gone on vacay.
And at first, I resisted, but we ended up eating out a lot during these weeks. Even though the kitchen was technically usable, everything was covered in dust and there was a sheet of plastic we’d have to flap open and walk through to get anywhere. Add to that my least favorite housechore — cooking — and it would not have been a pretty sight. Also, where would we have sat.
Cause the rest of the apartment looked like this.
So yeah, we ate out a lot. Once, even, splurging at the salad bar at Whole Foods! Look at those greens ❤
But the staycation at JoQuy’s came to an end and we had to come back home. Unfortunately, everything was still covered in dust — with no end in sight, due to various unforeseen complications — so we slept in sleepingbags to avoid dusty sheets and blankets.
“Oh you guys need to move back in? Oh… okay let us install the toilet in here for you at least.” So we brushed our teeth in the kitchen for like two weeks.
Drinking and eating our sorrows away — whiskey and fhc is a surprisingly good combo.
Dark times in giphy land.
These are photos as of this morning. Yesterday we Ikea-hacked like pros — bedside shelves in the bedroom, and this little spice rack guy as a towel holder in the bathroom. So proud.
TA DA!! Complete with new toilet that actually allows our door to close! It’s the little things in life.
<3. Mostly for the fact that it's all DONE and usable. Here's to brushing your teef in the bathroom. Here's to not living in plastic and dust. Here's to no more renovations… At least until the kitchen ones roll around. (OMG.)
